In this 24/7, always on, Tik Tok world of constant demand, there are instances when time away is not only necessary, but life giving. After releasing his moderately successful Sony debut LP, “Who Am I?” followed by back to back national tours and the birth of his second child Branan Murphy found himself in an unhealthy place mentally and emotionally. Murphy’s talent is unparalleled and apparent on the 16-track collection announcing himself as a master at writing deep, thought-provoking, brutally honest lyrics, and pairing them with the perfect, hooky melodies that showcase his multi-octave vocal range. In 2018, Murphy stormed out of the gate with the single “All the Wrong Things (featuring Koryn Hawthorne) which became the second most played song at Christian Hot AC/CHR radio for the year. Upon release, the album would spawn three more Top 10 hits: “Enough” (Murphy’s highest charting single to date at #3; “Talk About it” and feel good tune “Coming Home” establishing the Pop Singer/Songwriter as one to watch. As he began to pen new material for his follow up, Branan found himself unfulfilled and unsure of his true purpose. That’s when Murphy shocked everyone, including his close friends and family, abruptly taking several months away from music. A devout Christian, Husband and Father, Murphy explains how the time away helped him refocus on what’s most important (his faith and family) and rediscover his purpose as an artist and songwriter. “I think God takes things away sometimes and slows us down so that we can know him [better]. To be honest, I feel like most of the time, we don’t really want to know God, we just want him to do the things we want him to do when we want him to do it”, says Murphy matter of factly. “I was just running so hard, and it was killing me. It was time for things to change. So, I took a step back from everything and I feel like I grew more as a person than I have in years, and a lot of it had to do with just slowing down and waiting.” Murphy gained a new found clarity evident in his latest single “I Will Wait” written during his first week back from sabbatical in November 2019. “The world moves so fast, and we feel like if we’re not running to keep up, we’re going to lose our lives. So we spend all our energy just playing this game of catch”, explains Murphy. “I Will Wait is just the story of what my life was like last year and me learning to slow down and let God take control again.”  I Will Wait releases March 13, 2020
